Ingredients

  •   1 cup sweet rice (Chinese or Japanese short-grain sticky, ")
  •   1 tsp peanut oil (plus additional for greasing)
  •   31/2 cups cold water
  •   1/2 cup chinese rock sugar (pieces)
  •   1/3 cup chinese jujubes (dried pitted, cut lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick strips)
  •   8 pitted prunes (quartered, 1/3 cup)
  •   8 dried apricot (large, cut into 1/4-inch-thick strips, 1/3 cup)
  •   3 tbsps sour cherries (dried)
  •   3 tbsps candied orange peel (diced, 1/4 inch)
  •   8 walnut halves
  •   8 tsps sweetened red beans (canned, or sweet red-bean paste, from a 14- to 16-oz can)
